Worcester Storms Past Starfires

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Bravehearts picked up their second straight win Sunday afternoon against the Westfield Starfires 9-2 at Fitton Field.

The Bravehearts move to 19-26 with the win while Westfield falls to 21-23.

Worcester got the scoring started in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by Matt Livingston (Siena) that scored Jake Marquez (Maine). Another run would come across in the second when Andrew Chronister (Shippensberg) drove in Sebastian Mexico (Fordham) on a single. 

Two more runs scored in the third. TJ Wachter (Fordham) came home on an RBI triple by Jack Goodman (Pepperdine), followed up by an RBI single by Mexico that brought Goodman in. 

Cam Seymour (Southern Maine) hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Connor Peek (Holy Cross) in the fourth. Seymour came through again in the bottom of the sixth when he hit a two-run home run that also scored Cam Caraher (Southern New Hampshire). The Bravehearts capped off the 17-hit performance with two more runs in the eighth. An error allowed Marquez to come home, after which Mexico singled again to score Wachter.  

Westfield’s only runs came in the top of the fourth. Jakob Cohn (Williams) scored on a fielder’s choice, and Chad Lavelle (American International) came home on a double-steal. 

‘Hearts' starter Clay Robbins (Southern Maine) earned the win. In five innings, he gave up two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six. The loss went to Westfield starter Michael Aceto (Trinity). In four innings, the righty gave up five earned runs on 10 hits while striking out one. 

The Bravehearts have an off day Monday before returning home to Fitton Field to host the Brockton Rox Tuesday evening. First pitch is set for 6:30.
