Unicorns Sink Bravehearts Bats

The Worcester Bravehearts lost a 1-0 pitchers’ duel against the Norwich Sea Unicorns Friday night at Fitton Field.

The Bravehearts fall to 7-6 with the loss while Norwich moves up to 5-8.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, when a sacrifice fly by Bo Yaworski (Mitchell) scored Hunter Yaworski (Mitchell). That would be the only run that either team scored the entire night. The two teams combined for just six hits the entire game.

Sea Unicorns starter Connor Podeszwa (Tufts) got the win, tossing seven shutout innings, while giving up just three hits and a walk, striking out five. The tough-luck loss went to Bravehearts starter Tanner Smith (Harvard), who gave up one earned run in six innings on a hit and a walk while striking out five batters. Jack Kabel (Nichols) threw two scoreless innings to pick up the save for Norwich, giving up a hit and a walk. Kabel struck out three batters.

The Bravehearts are back at Fitton Field Saturday night, hosting the Pittsfield Suns for Worcester Tornadoes night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
