'Hearts Hammer Way to Victory

Nashua, NH– The Worcester Bravehearts got back in the win column Thursday night with a 6-3 victory over the Nashua Silver Knights at Holman Stadium.

The win moves the Bravehearts back to .500, at 22-22 while Nashua drops to 15-28.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the third, when Gavin Noreiga (Marist) launched a three-run home run that scored Nic Britt (William & Mary) and Shrewsbury native Nick Martin (Westfield State).

Martin would score again in the fifth on a Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic) RBI single.

The ‘Hearts added to the lead again in the seventh on an RBI double by Randy Flores (Franklin Pierce) that scored Martin and Michael Perales (Amherst).

A three-run home run by Nashua’s Nate Goranson (William & Mary) in the bottom of the eighth cut the lead in half, but that would be all the scoring the Silver Knights could muster.

Thursday’s game was the 100th of Martin’s career, making him only the third Braveheart to play in that many contests.

Bravehearts starter Max LeBlanc (UMass Amherst) picked up the win, tossing five scoreless innings, giving up four hits and three walks while striking out three. The loss went to Nashua’s Jack Beauchesne (Northeastern). He gave up four runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk across six innings with a pair of strikeouts.

The Bravehearts return to Fitton Field Friday for a doubleheader against the Norwich Sea Unicorns. The first pitch for game one is set for 5:05 p.m.
