Bravehearts Beat Down Rox

Worcester, MA— The Worcester Bravehearts won their fourth consecutive game, beating the Brockton Rox 4-2. The Bravehearts move to 11-9 while the first place Rox move to 12-7.

 

Worcester struck first in the second inning with Alex Neff (Dayton) scoring off an RBI single by Nic Britt (William & Mary). In the third inning, Dakota Harris (Polk State) notched a double, scoring off a Tayven Kelley (Penn State) triple. Kelley later scored off of a Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic) sac-fly. North Attleboro native Zach DeMattio (Wheaton) finished the Bravehearts scoring with a solo home run in the sixth inning. 

 

Brockton made things interesting, scoring one run in the eighth inning on a passed ball, along with another run on an RBI single by Jack Murphy (Saint Mary’s College) in the ninth. Brockton Manager Jack Arend was ejected earlier in the game.

 

Bravehearts’ starting pitcher Alex Amalfi (UMass Boston) had a quality start, going six shutout innings. His final line was 6 IP, 3H, 2BB, 6K, 0R. Player of the game Zach DeMattio went 2-4, 2B, HR RBI, and threw out a Rox runner trying to steal second.

 

The Bravehearts travel to Pittsfield, MA to face the Suns, Sunday June 20th. First pitch is scheduled for 4:35pm at Wahconah Park.
