Championship Series Set

Worcester, MA:  The Worcester Bravehearts baseball team will take on the Nashua Silver Knights in the 2020 FCBL Championship Series, with all three games to be held in Nashua. This will be the Bravehearts’ seventh championship series in as many years since the team launched in 2014.

The series — which begins on Thursday, August 20th — will take place at Historic Holman Stadium, which was constructed in 1937 and has a seating capacity of 2,800. The Silver Knights will cap stadium capacity at 25% capacity in compliance with social distancing regulations in place.

“With the Governor’s new restrictions here in Massachusetts regarding outdoor gatherings, we felt that the best move was to host all three potential games of the Futures League Championship Series in New Hampshire,” said Bravehearts General Manager Dave Peterson. Governor Baker lowered the limit for outdoor gatherings in Massachusetts from 100 people to 50 people on Tuesday, August 11th.

Since the campus of the College of the Holy Cross has remained closed this year, the Bravehearts have hosted their 2020 regular season at Doyle Field in Leominster. Doyle Field is set up as a public park rather than a stadium. Because of that distinction, visitors to the park have also watched Bravehearts games during their visit there by bringing their own lawn chairs and blankets and setting them up in a 360 degree layout around the field to allow for maximum social distancing. The Bravehearts had previously shut down the four city-owned grandstands at Doyle Field to comply with the no-spectator order.

“The move to New Hampshire allows us to welcome spectators to the games, which we have not been able to do in Massachusetts all summer,” said Peterson. “Through all of the challenges, though, Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella and the Doyle Field Commission have gone out of their way to allow us to host a successful Bravehearts season that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.”

With one more victory by Worcester or one more loss by the Nashua Silver Knights, the Bravehearts will clinch the #1 seed in the championship series. That would allow for Worcester to compete as the home team in two out of the three games taking place in Nashua. If Nashua wins the #1 seed, the Worcester Bravehearts would still be the home team in Game 2 of the series.

Season ticket holders and host families of the Worcester Bravehearts can enjoy any game of the championship series for free. Other fans wishing to travel to Holman Stadium are encouraged to order their tickets in advance by calling the Silver Knights Box Office at 603-718-8883. Fans can also watch the games online by purchasing the broadcast at www.fcblnetwork.com or downloading the FCBL Network app on a Roku or Amazon Fire device.

The Championship Series schedule at Holman Stadium will be as follows:
Thursday, August 20th 7:00 PM
Friday, August 21st, 6:00 PM
Saturday, August 22nd, 6:00 PM (if necessary)

To comply with the State of New Hampshire’s COVID-19 Guidance, all spectators must bring and wear masks or reusable/washable cloth face coverings over their nose and mouth when around others and when social distancing is difficult to maintain.
