Navs Once Again Rise Above 'Hearts

Lynn-  After a 12-4 home loss on Friday night, the Bravehearts were looking for redemption in North Shore. Instead, the Navigators were able to pull out a 4-3 comeback win at Frasier Field.

The Navigators got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning. After a Tyler MacGregor double and a Dominic Freeburger single, Louis Olivieri hit into a fielder’s choice to score MacGregor.

Worcester quickly answered in the top of the fourth. Paul Coumoulous and Tyler Becker singled putting runners at the corners with one out. Bryce Hellgeth, in his Bravehearts debut, then singled home Coumoulos to tie the game.

In the next inning, the Navs got the run right back. Alex Rosario relieved Jeremy Adams, who went 4 innings allowing one run, and three hits with three strikeouts. Rosario allowed a single to Ben Malgari who advanced to second on a fielder’s choice. Malgari quickly scored on a single off the bat of Freeburger.

The ‘Hearts answered in the next half inning. CJ McKennit lead off the inning with a triple, which was followed by a Hellgeth walk. PJ Barry singled in McKennit to tie the game in the sixth. The damage was not over however, as Mariano Ricciardi singled to load the bases to bring up John Thrasher. The centerfielder Thrasher grounded to the second basemen Freeburger who flipped to second base for the fielder choice. Hellgeth was able to score on the play and the ‘Hearts gained their first lead of the night.

Just as quickly as the ‘Hearts answered, the Navs answered right back. After back-to-back walks by Colin Wetteraue and Nolan Watson, Sean Lawlor doubled bringing them both home, and giving the Navs a 4-3 lead.

The Bravehearts loaded the bases in the ninth inning with nobody out after a walk by Ricciardi, John Thrasher reached on an error and Jakob Sessa was hit by a pitch. The comeback attempt was cut short however as the Navs were able to get out of the jam with a force out at home followed by two strikeouts.

Hunter Willichoski was the winning pitcher for the Navs going 2 2/3 hitless innings only allowing one walk.

Worcester will play in Pittsfield tomorrow at 10:30 am for a baseball in education day. They return home Wednesday for a home game against Pittsfield once again at 10:30 am.
