Bees Walk Off On Bravehearts

New Britain, CT – In a game that came down to the final pitch, the New Britain Bees beat the Worcester Bravehearts 7-5.

The Bees started off the game fast, with three runs in the first inning. The first was on a Griffin Arnone RBI double. Arnone later scored when Noah Martinez knocked in two runs with a single

But the Bravehearts answered, as Ben McNeill (NYIT) hit a leadoff homerun in the second. He followed that up with another solo home run in the third inning to make it 3-2 Bees.

New Britain came back with a home run of their own in the fourth, when Derek Tenney hit a solo home run. But the Bravehearts hit yet another solo home run in the fifth, this time by Ben Rice (Dartmouth). This was his league leading 10th HR of the season.

The Bravehearts tied the game in the sixth when Trevor Johnson (Dartmouth) hit a sacrifice fly. That made the score 4-4. They then took the lead with another a sacrifice fly in the eight, this time by Andrew Selima (Holy Cross).

The Bravehearts were one strike away from closing out the game, but the Bees put together a two out rally. A walk and a hit by pitch put two runners on for Todd Petersen. After fouling off two 0-2 pitches, he launched a walk off, three run home run to left field.

The Bravehearts head to Westfield for a double header tomorrow to face the Starfires with the first game starting at 3pm
